John Mathieson returns to speak to our Year 8

We were delighted to welcome back EG old boy John Mathieson ( 1969-1975) to speak to our Year 8 pupils about his like in the film making industry.John went on to Uppingham School after leaving Edge Grove and has since carved out a career as very successful film maker, initial working on music videos in the late 80’s and 90’s and then moving to feature films. He has frequently worked with director Ridley Scott acting as director of photography on a lot of his films including Gladiator for which he won an BAFTA award and was nominated an Oscar for.The list of films in which John has been involved is extremely long including X Men,Pan,Mary Queen of Scotts, Phantom of the Opera and King Arthur to mention a few. The children thoroughly enjoyed the talk and had plenty of questions for him at the end.
